ADVANCE, Mo., (KBSI) — Carlie Shamoun recorded her 1,000th career dig Monday, Oct. 5, helping Notre Dame Regional High School sweep Advance in a match that ended with both a victory and a celebration of her defensive achievement.

Shamoun entered the match needing 20 digs and finished with exactly that total. The Bulldogs won 25-22, 25-23, 25-19, improving to 15-10-3.

A defensive specialist known as a libero, Shamoun helps keep opponents’ attacks from reaching the floor so her team can continue the play.

During the final set, her teammates and coach paused to recognize the milestone before securing the winning point, according to a social media post from Shamoun’s mother.

Her twin sister, Hallie, added a personal touch, surprising Shamoun with a poster she made in art class that day.

Shamoun’s mother, who serves as FOX23’s general manager, described the celebration as a proud moment and praised the team for recognizing her daughter’s accomplishment.

Morgan LeGrand led Notre Dame’s offense with 14 kills, and Sara Hulshof contributed 38 assists. Payton Lynch added nine kills, while Jessi Iwuchukwu and Alex Young each recorded six.
