CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Scarecrows are popping up throughout downtown Cape Girardeau as local businesses participate in the Riverfront Fall Festival’s Scarecrow Stroll.

The event encourages businesses to create and display scarecrows while inviting community members to explore downtown, take photos and support local shops.

Participating businesses are asked to post photos of their scarecrow displays in the Riverfront Fall Festival’s Facebook thread by Oct. 18 to be included in the competition.

Judging is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22, with awards presented for first, second and third place.

Organizers encourage businesses to tag their establishments and VisitCape in their submissions.

Community members are invited to walk through downtown Cape Girardeau to view the displays and celebrate the fall season.
