Benton man arrested after police find methamphetamine during traffic stop

BENTON, Ky., (KBSI) – A Benton, Kentucky, man was arrested early Friday, Oct. 9, after police said they discovered methamphetamine during a traffic stop.
According to the Benton Police Department, Officer Peyton Jackson stopped a van for a traffic violation around 2 a.m. on Valley Road.
During the stop, police said a passenger, identified as 49-year-old Denny L. Cope of Benton, was found in possession of 11.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities said the drugs and paraphernalia were concealed on Cope’s body and inside his boot.
Cope was arrested and taken to the Marshall County Jail.
Police did not specify the charges filed against Cope.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
