CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) – Three people face multiple felony charges after police discovered eight firearms, including two reported stolen and one equipped with a machine gun conversion device, near Caruthersville High School during a football game.

According to probable cause statements, officers with the Caruthersville Police Department were working security at a high school football game Saturday, Oct. 10, when they received information about individuals from Hayti who had allegedly posted pictures of firearms on Snapchat and made threats to shoot someone.

An off-duty officer later reported seeing a group of males gathered around a white Jeep Wrangler near the high school.

Officers located the vehicle in a grassy parking lot directly north of the school. The property belongs to the Caruthersville School District and is commonly used for parking during school events.

While investigating, officers spotted a handgun in plain view on the rear seat of the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered eight firearms, multiple loaded magazines and ammunition.

Authorities said one of the firearms, a Glock .40-caliber handgun, was equipped with a machine gun conversion device and an extended magazine containing 27 rounds of ammunition. The handgun had been reported stolen in Pemiscot County.

A second handgun, a Glock 9 mm, had been reported stolen in Cape Girardeau County.

According to court documents, all but one of the recovered firearms had a live round in the chamber.

The three suspects were identified as Tyliek Moore, Ja’Quavion Edwards and Jaishaud Moore.

Investigators said Tyliek Moore was seen exiting the driver’s side of the Jeep, while Edwards was seated in the front passenger seat.

Court documents state Jaishaud Moore approached officers during the investigation, identified himself as the vehicle’s owner and acknowledged that all the firearms inside belonged to him.

Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Dicus said all three defendants face the following charges:

– One count of unlawful possession of a machine gun, a Class D felony.
– Two counts of possession of a stolen firearm, both Class D felonies.
– Two counts of possession of a loaded firearm on school property, both Class E felonies.

Judge Bill Carter issued warrants for all three defendants, who are being held in the Pemiscot County Jail without bond.

Dicus praised the Caruthersville Police Department, Hayti Police Department and Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office for their response.

He said the officers’ swift actions helped protect the community, particularly in light of recent events in the area.

“Gun violence has plagued this region for a long time, and I want to be very clear. It will not go unchallenged. You will be caught. You will be held accountable,” Dicus said.

The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies in Pemiscot County.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
