GRAVES COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A 98-year-old Graves County man died Tuesday afternoon after a crash involving a pickup truck and a semitruck.
According to Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden, the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the intersection of Kentucky highways 80 and 303.
Deputies arrived to find Douglas H. Webb, 98, of Graves County, unresponsive inside his 2016 GMC Canyon.
Investigators said Jason P. Fulcher, 50, also of Graves County, was driving a 2006 International semitruck pulling a grain trailer eastbound on Kentucky Highway 80.
According to witnesses, Webb attempted to turn left from Highway 80 onto Highway 303 when his pickup crossed into the path of the oncoming semitruck.
The semitruck struck Webb’s vehicle.
First responders performed lifesaving measures at the scene before Webb was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Fulcher was also taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center by the Mayfield-Graves County Ambulance Service for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.
The roadway was closed for approximately 90 minutes while crews cleared the scene.
The Graves County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mayfield Police Department, Graves County Fire and Rescue Squad, Mayfield Fire Department and Glens and Burls Wrecker Service and Towing.
Hayden said several motorists stopped to help Webb before first responders arrived.
The crash remains under investigation.
