CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Badge of Hope will hold its second annual Christmas event.

The free community event will take place on December 19, 2026 from 5:50-8:30 pm at the Cape PD Substation located at 629 Good Hope Street in Cape Girardeau.

Cape PD Public Information’s Officer Bobby Newton shares that Badge of Hope works to bring local law enforcement and community members together. “It’s, 100% free, we invite the entire community to come out. We’ll have several police officers down there as well to interact with the kids, hang out with the families. It’s just going to be a fun family Christmas event for everybody in the community” says Newton.

The event will have free music, free food, Santa, one free toy per child until they run out and more.

Senior Pastor of Restoration Community Church, Bob Lenz shares that although the event offers free cookies, hotdogs, toys and more, it goes beyond that, he says for him each event is about making an impact with someone he might not have ever met otherwise.

“It’s about building community and when you start seeing these families and the kids growing up year after year becoming adults, and you think, whose life can I influence? Buy a toy, a Santa Claus, a hot dog, and just seeing these families come together? I don’t think there’s any greater reward than seeing they come back. Or when I was walking around, handing out fliers for Spud with a Cop or breakfast with a cop alot of families are saying, ‘hey, we’re looking forward!’ I say, we got Christmas coming up, and they’re all excited already. So, people are really looking forward to this. So again, the invite is it’s a community event its free for everybody to come on out. If you’re a church, a nonprofit, get on board with us and let’s keep doing this” says Lenz.

Those interested in being a part of the event or volunteering should contact Pastor Bob Lenz at Restoration Community Church.
