NEW MADRID COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Court documents reveal new details about a deadly assault in Lilbourn that left a 50-year-old man dead and resulted in charges against three people.

According to a probable cause statement filed by New Madrid County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Dubois, Jerrick Damion Martin is charged with second-degree assault in connection with the May 8, 2026, death of William Kane.

Investigators say Martin was at a residence on Fred Dodds Street in Lilbourn, where several people were drinking while waiting for Isaiah “Zah” Chambers to arrive from work.

During an interview with investigators May 19, Martin admitted he was at the residence the night of the assault.

According to court documents, investigators identified Martin as the driver of a white 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck seen on Ring camera footage from the victim’s home.

The footage allegedly shows Chambers confronting Kane in the driveway while Martin and Brian Edgin were inside the truck.

Investigators say the video also shows Martin raising his fist toward Lawrence Graham and spitting at Kane.

According to the probable cause statement, Graham was attempting to provide aid to his brother, Kane, when Martin allegedly tried to prevent him from doing so.

The footage also reportedly shows Edgin joining the assault and approaching Graham while yelling and pointing, telling him to go inside as his brother was being assaulted.

Investigators say Kane died as a result of the assault.

Dubois stated in the probable cause statement that he believed Martin acted with the purpose of causing serious physical injury to another person.

The probable cause statement was signed Aug. 27, 2026.

Martin faces a charge of second-degree assault, a Class D felony.

Chambers, 18, has also been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with Kane’s death. Edgin, 35, faces an assault charge.
