ST. LOUIS, Mo., (KBSI) — Two Ameren Missouri utility workers recently reunited with a stray dog they helped rescue after finding him severely malnourished near a work site during the summer.
Ed Schmidt and Anthony Hall learned that a stray dog had been spotted wandering near one of their work sites. After searching the area, they discovered the dog hiding inside a shed.
Concerned about the dog’s condition, the workers contacted Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a nonprofit animal rescue organization. They provided the dog with food and stayed with him until rescue personnel arrived.
The dog, later named Sparks by Stray Rescue in honor of the utility workers, was in critical condition when he was found.
After months of veterinary care and rehabilitation, Sparks made a full recovery.
The dog recently reunited with Schmidt and Hall for the first time since they helped rescue him.
The reunion marked a milestone in Sparks’ recovery and gave the workers an opportunity to see how much the dog had improved since they first found him.
Stray Rescue of St. Louis credited the workers’ compassion and quick action with helping give Sparks a second chance at life.
More information about Sparks’ rescue and recovery is available on the Stray Rescue of St. Louis website.
