Cape Girardeau County to offer electronic property assessment notices beginning in 2027
FOX23 News at 9 p.m.
JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — Cape Girardeau County property owners will soon have the option to receive personal property assessment notices electronically instead of through traditional mail.
The Cape Girardeau County Assessor’s Office announced a new opt-in service that will allow residents to receive personal property declarations, also known as assessment lists, by email or text message beginning in January 2027.
According to County Assessor Bob Adams, the service is intended to make managing property declarations more convenient while reducing administrative costs.
Property owners who have previously provided their email addresses to the assessor’s office should watch for an email beginning Oct. 22 with the subject line “Cape Girardeau County – Update Your Information.”
The email will allow recipients to verify their contact information and select their preferred method of receiving notices.
Officials encourage residents to check their spam or junk folders if they do not see the invitation in their inboxes.
Participation in the electronic notification service is voluntary, and property owners can choose whether to receive notices electronically.
The assessor’s office said the new system is designed to help residents stay informed about assessment deadlines and avoid potential late fees.
