CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) — A nonprofit organization focused on workforce development and second-chance career opportunities is relocating its Carbondale office to the Eurma C. Hayes Center.

AOE International will celebrate the move with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, Oct. 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 441 E. Willow St.

The Carbondale Chamber of Commerce will conduct the ribbon cutting.

Founded in 2023, AOE International provides workforce training, education and career development opportunities for underserved populations, including people preparing to reenter their communities after incarceration.

The organization participates in Illinois’ Climate and Equitable Jobs Act Returning Residents Clean Jobs Program, which provides job training to individuals involved in the Illinois Department of Corrections system.

The program prepares participants for careers in construction, electrical work, solar energy and other industries through hands-on training, industry-recognized certifications and career-readiness skills.

AOE International recently completed its first training group.

“Relocating our office to the Eurma C. Hayes Center is an intentional step toward being more deeply rooted in the community we serve,” said Tamara Nall, founder and executive director of AOE International.

The new office will serve as a base for the organization’s Southern Illinois operations and help strengthen partnerships with local employers, educational institutions and community organizations.

AOE International is also seeking partnerships with construction companies, clean energy employers and apprenticeship programs to connect participants with employment opportunities.

Friday’s celebration will include remarks from community leaders, refreshments and opportunities to learn more about the organization’s programs.

The event is open to community members, business leaders, prospective employers and nonprofit organizations.
