Missouri voters may see changes at the polls

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Missouri voters heading to the polls Tuesday will see some changes to election rules, including new restrictions on electioneering near polling places.
Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins says recent legislation changes where campaign activity can take place around polling locations.
According to Hoskins under the new rules, electioneering is prohibited within 25 feet of a polling place entrance. Between 25 and 50 feet, only candidates running for office may be physically present in certain circumstances. Beyond 50 feet, the restrictions no longer apply under the standard rules.
Election authorities may also expand certain restrictions to cover up to 50 feet.
Hoskins is encouraging voters to take time to review their ballots before casting their votes, including both the front and back.
He says voters may find more than statewide issues on their ballots, with local questions and initiatives also appearing on the back.
Polls across Missouri will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Voters are also reminded to bring an acceptable photo ID to the polls.
Hoskins encourages Missourians to make a plan before heading to their polling location and to familiarize themselves with what’s on the ballot.
