Veterans weekend event to feature boxing, live music in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — A Veterans Day weekend community gathering featuring boxing, live music and food will take place Saturday, Nov. 7, in Carbondale.

The Syndicate Smoker event will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. at The Syndicate Gym, 215 S. Illinois Ave. Admission is free.

The event will feature boxing sparring exhibitions with clubs from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and the St. Louis region.

Sparring begins at 2 p.m. Organizers said the event is a nonsanctioned exhibition, and no winners will be announced.

The gathering will also recognize military veterans, with veteran organizations and a color guard invited to participate.

Food and beer will be available throughout the event, along with vegetarian options. Live music is scheduled for sunset.

Organizers said the event is open to the public and is intended to bring the community together in recognition of veterans and their service.
