Carbondale man sentenced to 7.5 years for unlawful use of weapons by a felon

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A Carbondale man was sentenced to 7.5 years for an unlawful use of weapons by a felon charge.
Tyree McQueen-Johnson, 31, of Carbondale was sentenced after pleading guilty in Jackson County to the charge of unlawful use of weapons by a felon, a Class 3 felony.
The charge came after a traffic stop that occurred in Carbondale on March 3, 2022, where McQueen-Johnson was stopped for driving with suspended registration.
Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies found a loaded pistol under the driver’s seat.
McQueen-Johnson is a felon and prohibited from possessing firearms.
McQueen-Johnson has a history of weapons convictions, including possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful use of weapons by a felon.
He was sentenced to 7.5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by one year of
mandatory supervised release.
