VIENNA, Ill. (KBSI) – A teacher shortage can be felt across the but a southern Illinois program has a response to the problem.
In an effort to build an educator pipeline in southern Illinois, the program Southern Illinois Future Teacher Coalition also known as (SIFTC) was created.
Brooke May and Hannah Middelton, career path grant coordinators, are expanding the program’s impact with the help of grant funds from the Illinois State Board of education with the plan to continue its pipeline.
“I do think that we are seeing a huge issue with the teacher shortage especially in rural areas because lots of people are moving out of rural areas,” said Middleton.
The SIFTC help will provide much-needed programs to grow students’
interest and inspire the next educators in the community.
