1 arrested, 1 injured in shooting in Sikeston

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – A Sikeston man faces charges after one person was shot and wounded Sunday afternoon.

Dale-Wadrick L. Winters Jr. faces charges of domestic assault 1st, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

One person is in custody after a female was shot Sunday afternoon in Sikeston.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 400 block of Lynual around 3 p.m. Sunday, August 27.

Officers found a female with a gunshot wound to her side. She was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers say the suspect is the boyfriend of the victim. He was not found on scene, but Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s deputies found the suspect’s vehicle and arrested him.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim. The victim is in stable condition.

Winters Jr. is being held on a no bond warrant.
