1 arrested, facing murder charge after homicide in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A Cape Girardeau County man faces murder and armed criminal action charges after police say another man was shot to death on Saturday.

Izaiah James Turner, 18, of Cape Girardeau County faces murder in the first degree, (Class A felony) and armed criminal action charges.

The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad was activated after a homicide Saturday in Cape Girardeau. Following Turner’s arrest the Major Case Squad disbanded.

The shooting happened near Bellevue and Fountain streets around 5:52 p.m. on Oct. 15, according to the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad.

Police say Nathan Hinojosa Jr., 22, of Cape Girardeau died from gunshot wounds.

The Major Case Squad identified Turner as a suspect. He was located and arrested by the Major Case Squad at 1:22 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16.

Turner’s cash-only bond was set at $2.5 million.
