1 arrested in Carbondale after firearm shot early Sunday morning

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Chicago man faces a charge after a firearm was shot early Sunday morning in Carbondale.
Khalil E. Oliver, 19, of Chicago faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm.
Carbondale police officers responded to the 800 block of East Grand Avenue at 3:49 a.m. on October 22 regarding a reported disturbance.
There had been a battery and a firearm was shot at a social gathering in the area, according to police.
Officers recovered a firearm that had been hidden at the scene.
Oliver was identified as a suspect.
Officers obtained a search warrant with the assistance of the Jackson County State’s Attorney for Oliver’s home on SIU campus that led to the discovery of evidence in the investigation.
Oliver was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
