1 arrested in Carbondale after stolen gun found during traffic stop

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A 21 year old from Elizabethtown faces charges in Carbondale after police found a gun that was reported stolen.
Carbondale police officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of South Wall Street on November 5 for failing to display a registration plate.
The driver of the vehicle, Natly M. Johnson, 21, Elizabethtown was found to be in possession of a handgun that had previously been reported stolen, according to the Carbondale Police Department.
There was also evidence that the gun had been fired in the city, though no property damage or injuries is known to have occurred, according to police.
Johnson faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, improper display of registration, unlawful possession of a vehicle title and endangering the life or health of a child.
Johnson was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
