1 dead, 1 injured in Cape Girardeau crash

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A two-vehicle crash early Saturday at the intersection of William and Sheridan streets left one person dead and another injured, according to the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
Police said the crash happened around 1:37 a.m. when a 2020 Nissan Altima driven westbound on William Street by 20-year-old Alyssa Williams of Cape Girardeau collided with a 2008 Honda Civic traveling southbound on Sheridan, driven by 21-year-old Arion Patterson of Scott City.
Williams was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Patterson was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and later died, authorities said.
The police department’s crash reconstruction team is continuing to investigate.
