1 dead, 3 injured in Centralia shooting; Illinois State Police investigating

CENTRALIA, Ill. (KBSI) — Illinois State Police are investigating a shooting in Centralia that left one person dead, and several others injured Sunday evening.
According to state police, the Centralia Police Department responded around 5:01 p.m. to the 900 block of Kell Street for a reported shooting and later requested ISP Zone 8 Investigations to take over the case.
Authorities said a 19-year-old man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the Marion County coroner. Three other individuals were also transported for treatment and have since been released.
Preliminary information indicates the shooting was targeted, and officials said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital, located near the scene, was briefly placed on lockdown following the incident. Multiple officers were seen securing the hospital entrance, along with a vehicle from the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
Several nearby roadways were closed overnight as investigators processed the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released.
