1 dead after 2 jump from barge in Livingston County

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – One person died Sunday after jumping from a barge into water, according to the Marshall County Rescue Squad.

The Marshall County Rescue Squad was paged out at 6:06 p.m. on August 12 day for mutual aid assistance from Livingston County on report of two people jumping from a barge into water and only one coming back to surface.

Boats were deployed from Kentucky Dam Marina.

One person was located on sonar. Two divers from Marshall County Rescue Squad went into the water.

One on surface for assistance and Chief Kenny Pratt for recovery.

The East Marshall Fire Protection District, Gilbertsville Volunteer Fire Department, South Marshall Fire Department, Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife and Marshall County Emergency Management responded to the scene.

The body was turned over to the Livingston County Coroner’s Office.
