SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Sikeston Saturday night.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a call around 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 14 of a suicidal man with a gun at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at 153 West Murray Lane.

The attendees of the meeting were able to leave unharmed.

Police arrived on scene and a stand off began.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety Chief Jim McMillen says 68-year-old George Holland from Delta threatened officers and himself. As negotiators were being called in, Chief McMillen says Holland pointed the gun at his head and waved it at the officers.

One of the officers shot Holland. Officers on scene tried life-saving measures until an ambulance arrived to take him to a hospital.

No officers or attendees of the meeting were injured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating.
