1 facing weapons, drug charges in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Carbondale resident faces weapons and drug charges after authorities conducted a parole compliance check.

City of Carbondale police officers, agents with the Illinois Department of Corrections and deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department conducted parole compliance checks in Carbondale around 8 p.m. on June 28.

During a compliance check at a home in the 300 block of South Crestview Street, officers found Daquarii M. Mathis, 30, of Carbondale, to be in possession of a stolen firearm and suspected illegal narcotics, according to the Carbondale Police Department.

Mathis faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

The Illinois Department of Corrections also issued a warrant for Mathis violating the conditions of his parole.

Mathis was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
