1 injured, 1 arrested after officer-involved shooting in Benton, KY

BENTON, Ky. (KBSI) – One person is injured and one in custody after an officer-involved shooting early Tuesday morning in Benton, Ky.
A Marshall County sheriff’s deputy was checking a suspicious activity on Harold King Drive in Benton around 4:30 a.m. on January 9. That’s when Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hilbrecht says a man pointed a firearm at the deputy. The deputy fired a shot.
The person sustained non-life threatening injures. He was taken to Lourdes Hospital.
Another person who was at the scene was arrested and faces first degree burglary charge.
Sheriff Hilbrecht requested the Kentucky State Police investigate to ensure the integrity of the investigation.
Sheriff Hilbrecht says there is no ongoing threat to the community and requests the community’s prayers for all involved.
