1 injured, 1 arrested in crash in Graves County

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – One person was injured and another arrested after a crash Saturday evening just west of Mayfield.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 4100 Old Dublin Road just west of Mayfield for a crash around 5:31 p.m. on Saturday, November 11.

Joseph Donald Cherry, 47 of Mayfield, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado traveling west on Old Dublin Road. Cherry failed to maintain his lane of travel which resulted in a crash, according to deputies with the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

Eddie Richard, 55 of Mayfield, was driving a 2013 Toyota Tacoma east on Old Dublin Road.

Richard saw Cherry’s vehicle coming toward him and tried to leave the road to avoid a crash.

Richard’s vehicle was struck in the front end by Cherry’s vehicle, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

Cherry was driving his vehicle under influence of alcohol, according to the sheriff’s office.

Cherry faces charges of DUI 1st offense, wanton endangerment 1st degree and failure to wear seat belt.

Richard had minor injuries and was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center by Mayfield/Graves County EMS.

Cherry did not report any injuries at the scene.

Graves County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Hall investigated the collision. He was assisted by Sheriff Jon Hayden, Sergeant Richard Edwards, Deputy John Cavin, Deputy Tyler Crane. They were assisted by Mayfield/Graves County EMS and the Wingo Fire Department.

Cherry was taken to the Graves County RC Center and then taken to an out of county facility.
