1 injured, 1 arrested in stabbing in rural Murphysboro

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (KBSI) – Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a stabbing.
The victim, Randy J. Legrand, 67, of Murphysboro told deputies he was completing maintenance work in one of his tenant’s mobile homes along Business Highway 13 in Murphysboro when the tenant stabbed him in the neck with a kitchen knife. Sheriff’s deputies received a report of the stabbing around 12:33 p.m.
Jonathon M. Brim, 39, of Murphysboro faces a charge of aggravated battery.
Legrand was taken to a hospital via private vehicle with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.
Deputies arrested Brim around 12:55 p.m. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
