1 injured in 3-vehicle crash in Pryorsburg

PRYORSBURG, Ky. (KBSI) – One person was injured in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday in Pryorsburg.

Deputies with the Graves County Sheriff’s Office responded to US 45 South near Snow Lane in the Pryorsburg for an injury collision on February 28 around 4:05 p.m.

Karen Clapp, 68, of Water Valley was traveling north on US 45 South in a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox when she left her lane of travel and entered the southbound lane, according to Graves County Sheriff’s deputies.

In an attempt to avoid a head-on collision, Jason Adams, 45, of Hazel swerved from the southbound lane toward the northbound lane.

Clapp struck Adams’ vehicle on the passenger’s side with the passenger side of her vehicle, according to Graves County Sheriff’s deputies.

Nathanael Gipson, 33, of Mayfield was driving a vehicle following Adams’ vehicle. He also had to swerve from the southbound lane into the northbound lane to try to avoid a collision.

Clapp missed Gipson’s truck but struck his trailer.

Adams’ vehicle left the roadw into the northbound ditch before striking a culvert and overturning.

Adams’ vehicle then slid across the road and came to a rest on its roof in the southbound lane.

Clapp’s vehicle, after striking Gipson’s trailer, overturned into the southbound ditch coming to a rest on its roof.

Adams was taken from the scene to a local hospital by Mayfield-Graves County EMS.

Clapp and Gipson refused transport after being evaluated by EMS at the scene.

Graves County Deputy Zac Smith investigated the crash.He was assisted at the scene by Deputy Larry Jones, Deputy Greg Sloan, Chief Deputy Jeremy Prince, Sheriff Jon Hayden, the Wingo Volunteer Fire Department, Mayfield Fire Department and Mayfield-Graves County EMS.
