1 injured in crash in McCracken County

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – One person was injured in a crash on Interstate 24 in McCracken County Tuesday evening.
Roger Satre, 79, from Frost, Minnesota was driving a black 2019 Toyota Avalon westbound on I-24. Kathryn Satre, 79, was a passenger in the vehicle.
Satre made an eastbound turn from the turn-around cross-over at the 2-mile marker.
A 2009 Silver Ford Escape driven by 48-year-old Samuel Welty of Norfolk, Virginia was traveling eastbound and collided with the rear of Satre’s vehicle when he tried to enter traffic from the turnaround, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.
Welty’s vehicle left the roadway, traveled over the guardrail and came to rest at the bottom of the steep embankment and ditch.
Welty was taken to an area hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.
Roger Satre and Kathryn Satre were not injured.
Eastbound traffic was reduced to one lane for about three hours while crews worked to pull the vehicle back onto the roadway.
Roger Satre was cited for disregarding a traffic regulation, 1st offense.
The Paducah Police Department, Paducah Fire Department, Concord Fire Department, McCracken County Emergency Management and Harpers Towing and Lents Towing assisted the sheriff’s office.
