1 injured in crash involving school bus in Massac County

MASSAC COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – The Massac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a school bus crash that happened Wednesday morning.

A school bus was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of North Avenue and Country Club Road, according to Massac County Sheriff Chad Kaylor.

The Massac County Sheriff’s Office got the call at 7:51 a.m.

The school bus failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle traveling south on North Avenue at the intersection, according to the sheriff’s office.

The bus entered the intersection and was struck.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The school bus driver and 12 children onboard were uninjured, according to the sheriff’s office.

Per protocol, the children were examined on scene of the crash before they were released to parents.

The crash is still under investigation.
