1 injured in house fire in Zeigler

ZEIGLER, Ill. (KBSI) – One person was injured in a house fire in Ziegler Monday, November 13.

The City of Zeigler firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 206 Prairie Street in Zeigler at 2:55 p.m. Monday.

The owner/occupant of the home said his kitchen was on fire and that he got injured while trying to put out the flames.

Firefighters entered the structure and suppressed the fire. The fire was contained to the kitchen.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be a cooking/grease fire. It is considered accidental.

No other injuries were reported.

Mutual aid, assistance and support was provided by the Royalton Fire Department, Zeigler Police Department, America Medical Response, Central Dispatch of West Franklin County and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center.
