1 injured in shooting in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – One person is injured after a shooting in Cape Girardeau late Tuesday afternoon.

Officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to the 600-Block of S. Ellis in reference to shots fired at about 4:40 p.m. on October 24.

While officers were on the way to the scene they found a vehicle in the area of S. Sprigg and Maple with what appeared to have bullet holes in the vehicle.

Officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle and one person had what appeared to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers also responded to the 600 block of S. Ellis where they saw multiple pieces of evidence indicating shots had been fired and collected the evidence.

Witnesses told police that the suspect, a black male, ran from the scene wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. Officers also found a parked vehicle and a home in the 600 block of S. Ellis with an apparent bullet hole.

No suspects are in custody.

The investigation continues.
