1 injured in shooting in Marion, officer & 1 other injured in crash on way to scene

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – One person was injured in a shooting shortly after noon on Wednesday.

The Marion Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of E. DeYoung Street on Oct. 4. in reference to a male who said he had been shot.

Officers and paramedics responded and found the person who sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and began rendering medical aid.

A shooting took place in the 1800 block of N. State Street, according to the Marion Police Department. Officers responded to the area and detained a juvenile male believed to be involved and recovered a firearm he had, according to police..

A search warrant was being executed at the home Wednesday afternoon.

While enroute to the shooting a Marion police officer was involved in a crash at the intersection of DeYoung and Court Street that involved multiple vehicles.

The MPD officer and a driver of another vehicle reported injuries. They were taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Polic are still investigating.
