1 safe after fire in Zeigler

ZEIGLER, Ill. (KBSI) – The Illinois State Fire Marshal and Zeigler police are investigating to determine the cause of a fire Wednesday in Zeigler.
Zeigler firefighters responded to 802 Maple Street in Zeigler around 8:01 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19.
The first arriving Zeigler police officer reported smoke showing from the home with a possible kitchen fire.
The officer woke up the person in the home. He got out safely.
The first arriving engine reported light smoke showing from the home.
Firefighters entered and found a small fire in a room near the back of the home. They put out the fire.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
Royalton Fire Department provided automatic aid. Zeigler Police Department, the State Fire Marshal’s office and City Commissioner Brad Wilson assisted.
