12-year-old student taken into custody after found with firearm at Kennett Middle School

KENNETT, Mo. (KBSI) – A 12 year old was taken into custody Monday after police say the child had a firearm at school.

Kennett Police were dispatched to the Kennett Middle School in reference to a student who possessed a firearm at 9:17 a.m. on December 18, according to Kennett Police Chief Kenny Wilson.

School Principal Nathan Baker was alerted by another student that a 12-year-old student was in possession of a firearm.

The 12 year old was taken into custody by the school principal and officers.

The student was turned over to juvenile office authorities.

The student was later taken to the Bloomfield Detention Center pending the filing of charges.
