14-year-old charged in Mayfield football game shooting

MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — A 14-year-old boy from Fulton, Kentucky, has been arrested and charged with first-degree assault in connection with a shooting during the “Battle of the Birds” high school football game Friday night, police said.
The suspect is accused of shooting 18-year-old Jordan Riley of Farmington, who suffered gunshot wounds to his arm and upper torso. Riley was airlifted to an out-of-state hospital, where he remains in stable condition, according to authorities.
Investigators said the shooting happened after a physical altercation between Riley and another juvenile. The 14-year-old then allegedly fired the weapon. He is being held at a juvenile detention center.

The department was assisted at the scene by the Kentucky State Police, the Graves and Carlisle County sheriff’s offices, Mayfield EMS, the Fulton Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
