16 year old cited for ‘spinning out,’ driving without license in Paducah

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A 16-year-old boy faces charges after police say he drove recklessly with no driver’s license.
An unlicensed 16-year-old was cited after an officer witnessed him “spinning out” and driving recklessly early Tuesday morning around 2:35 at North 25th and Clay streets. This is an area where police have received complaints about reckless driving.
Paducah police officer Rachel Bertrand reported she was approaching a stop sign when a Dodge Charger came through the intersection at a high rate of speed, spinning out and fishtailing as the vehicle was making a left turn. The vehicle continued north on 25th Street as Bertrand turned around to stop it. She saw the car turn into an alley and pull to the rear of a house on Laclede Avenue, and two people run from the car.
The driver put the car in reverse and began backing toward a police cruiser, then nearly hit a fence before stopping, according to the Paducah Police Department. When the driver got out of the car, he was identified as a 16-year-old who has no operator’s license. He told officers he took his brother’s car without permission and was “spinning out” with his friends. He said when he saw Bertrand’s cruiser, he drove to his grandmother’s house on Laclede Avenue.
The teen was cited on charges of reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle) and driving with no operator’s license.
He was released to his grandmother.
