16-year-old driver injured in single-vehicle crash
MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — A 16-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing his vehicle in Graves County.
Kaleb Byars, of Dexter, was driving a 2019 Ford Edge southbound on KY 121 North near Fred Road around 9:40 p.m.
Wednesday when he dozed off, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, ran off the left shoulder and struck several trees and an embankment before rolling over.
It came to rest on its passenger side.
Byars was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment.
Chief Deputy Jeremy Prince investigated the crash, assisted by Sgt. Garret Clark, Mayfield/Graves County EMS and the Mayfield/Graves County Fire and Rescue Squad.
