18th-century fun awaits at Fort de Chartres Rendezvous
PRAIRIE DU ROCHER, Ill., (KBSI) — The annual Fort de Chartres Rendezvous will take place June 7-8 at the state historic site, featuring a range of 18th-century activities.
The event, hosted by Les Coureurs des Bois de Fort de Chartres and sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, will include:
Flintlock muzzleloader shooting competition
Period food, drink and entertainment
Artisan and craft demonstrations
18th-century children’s games
Militia and military events
The rendezvous will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 7 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 8. Admission is free, although special event parking is $10 per car. Donations are welcome.
The Fort de Chartres State Historic Site, located at 1350 Illinois 155, marks the location of the last of three successive forts built by the French during the 18th-century colonial occupation of Illinois.
