2 accused of kidnapping, beating in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Carbondale police arrested two people accused of kidnapping and beating a person on Jan. 2.

Carbondale police responded to the 600 block of West Mill Street at 7:07 a.m. on Jan. 2 in reference to a kidnapping. Officers found evidence of a disturbance at the home. They found a victim safe in Murphysboro in need of serious medical treatment. The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment.

Both Justin D. Carr, 39 of Carbondale and Jalyn A. Rush, 22, of Lexington, Ill. face home invasion, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated battery charges.

Additional charges against Carr and Rush could be possible as the investigation continues.

Both suspects were taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The Murphysboro Police Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.
