2 arrested, 1 on the run after police chase in 2 western KY counties

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Two men were arrested and another is on the run after a police chase from Ballard County into McCracken County on Monday, Jan. 24.

Ballard County sheriff’s deputies chased a 2020 Fort Explorer on KY 286 into McCracken County around 9:42 p.m. on Monday.

The driver, Jeremy T. Jones, 36, of Paducah, got out of the vehicle while is was still moving on Dundale Road and ran away.

The backseat passenger, Martin Leyva, 28, of Paducah, then got into the driver’s seat and continued to drive away from police for a few blocks before stopping, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Leyva and the front seat passenger, Marvin A. Tucker, 37, of Paducah, were arrested.

Tucker faces charges of public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol) and possession of open alcoholic container in motor vehicle.

Leyva faces charges of public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol), fleeing or evading police 2nd degree and reckless driving.

The driver, Jones, was not found. He has numerous unrelated felony arrest warrants for fleeing or evading police, trafficking marijuana and other criminal offenses. Additional charges on Jones are pending.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office asks for the public’s assistance in locating Jones.
