2 arrested after armed robbery report in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Carbondale police officers are investigating a report of an armed robbery.
Police responded to the 900 block of East Park Street for a report of an armed robbery at 5:04 a.m. on Friday, May 5.
The victims reported two males requested a ride after a party, then pointed guns at them and demanded all of their property, according to the Carbondale Police Department.
Police say the suspects took the victims’ property and then stole the vehicle from them.
No injuries were reported.
Later that morning officers found the stolen vehicle parked with no on inside in the 1100 block of East College Street.
One of the suspects was identified as Dominique J. Smith, 29, of Carbondale. A warrant for Smith for an armed robbery charge was obtained with assistance from the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s office.
Smith was found and arrested later that day. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
The second suspect in the case was identified as Jamir J. Jordan of Markham, Ill. A warrant for Jordan for the charge of armed robbery was obtained with assistance from the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s office.
Later that afternoon Jordan was found during a traffic stop. Police say drove he from detectives in the vehicle.
Detectives were unable to pursue at that time because they were addressing a different person wanted on a warrant.
Police say Jordan left the city in the vehicle. Police say Jordan later ran from other agencies in other jurisdictions, crashed the vehicle, carjacked another vehicle and was eventually captured in Iroquois County, Ill. where he remaine in custody for numerous traffic related offenses and the armed robbery charge.
