2 arrested after copper wire stolen, drugs found

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people face charges after copper wires were stolen from a breaker box at a Paducah business.

Jason C. Peace 50, of Paducah faces charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others greater than $1,000 less than $10,000, criminal mischief 1st degree, possession of controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense methamphetamine and two probation violation warrants.

Kimberly A. Humphrey, 49, of Eddyville faces charges of possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 3rd or greater offense and drug paraphernalia.

McCracken County sheriff’s deputies responded to a business in the 4000 block of Clarks River Road iin Paducah on July 23 for a reported theft.

Deputies learned that a suspect had driven up to the property on a modified go-cart and cut multiple copper wires from a breaker box. The box was damaged during the theft.

Around 11:54 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Five Star on Clarks River Road. It was reported that the go-cart and the man matching the description was on the property.

Deputies responded to the Five Star and identified the man as Jason C. Peace.

Sheriff’s deputies say Peace had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. During the search, deputies found a glass smoking pipe containing methamphetamine.

Peace was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

On July 24, detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at Peace’s home.

During the execution of the search warrant, Kimberly Humphrey of Eddyville was located.

Detectives say they recovered the stolen copper wire and small quantity of methamphetamine.

Humphrey was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
