2 charged after attempted home invasion, armed robbery in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Two Carbondale men face attempted home invasion and attempted robbery charges.
Zecheriah C. Freeman, 25, of Carbondale faces attempted home invasion and attempted robbery charges.
Marcus E. Matthews, 32, of Carbondale faces charges of attempted home invasion and attempted armed robbery.
The attempted home invasion happened on October 25 in the 400 block of West Willow Street around 1:21 p.m., according to the Carbondale Police Department.
Detectives identified Freeman as one of the suspects on October 26.
It was initially reported that three men had guns and were forcing their way into a home. However, officers eventually learned that the incident stemmed from a dispute between acquaintances who knew each other.
One of the suspects forced in a door after a confrontation, according to Carbondale police.
One of the suspects also inferred that he possessed a weapon, but it has not been proven to be the case at this time.
The resident confronted the suspects who then left the area.
No one was injured. No property was lost.
Officers found and arrested Matthews after he was identified as one of the suspects.

Freeman was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
