2 face burglary charges after numerous items stolen from Cape Girardeau County home

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – Two people face charges after Cape Girardeau County sheriff’s deputies investigated a burglary from a home.

The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office was alerted Monday, Oct 25 to a possible burglary located at a home around the 900 block of County Road 442. Numerous items were stolen including credit cards, a laptop, and diamond rings.

During the investigation it was discovered that the stolen credit cards were being used at local businesses around town. This led to the arrest of two people.

Shane Anthony Lee Shafer faces charges from the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutor’s Office with warrants issued for four counts including class D felony of burglary, class D felony of stealing, class A misdemeanor of fraudulent use of a debit device and class B misdemeanor of property damage. Shafer was being held at the Cape Girardeau County Justice Center with a bond set at $10,000.

Amber Dawn Chasten faces a charge of class A misdemeanor of fraudulent use of a debit device. Chasten was being held at the Scott County Jail with a bond set at $5,000.
