2 face charges after man shot in face in Sikeston

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Two Sikeston residents face charges after a man was shot in the face on Oct. 20.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety was called around 11:30 p.m. to the 900 block of Montgomery Street in Sikeston in New Madrid County.

A 32-year-old Sikeston man had a gunshot wound to right cheek.

A cousin and the victim was in a argument earlier in the day, according to Sikeston DPS.

A verbal fight happened on Montgomery Street. The victim tried to break up the fight and separate the parties involved prior to the shooting. Investigators say a shot was fired and struck the victim in the cheek.

Jalon Marr, 25, Jemeka Marr, 28, both of Sikeston faces charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal charges. Both are being held on no bond.

The victim was flown to a St. Louis hospital in stable but critical condition.

The SEMO Major Case Squad was activated.
