2 face charges after report of gunshots in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Two people face charges after police responded to a report of gunshots early Saturday morning in Carbondale.

Carbondale police officers responded to the 300 block of North Oakland Avenue at 5:40 a.m. on October 21 for a report of gunshots.

Officers learned a firearm was shot outside a home during a domestic disturbance.

Officers arrested Shirley A. Monroe, 29, of Carbondale for reckless discharge of a firearm.

Kenneth W. Vann, 41, of Carbondale faces a charge of domestic battery.

Both Monroe and Vann were taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
