Sheriff’s office: 2 face charges after sheriff’s deputy hit in face, drugs found under tire

HAZEL, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people face charges after a Calloway County Sheriff’s deputy was hit in the face.

Jimmy Scott, 51, of Hazel faces charges of trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense (>2 oz. meth), flleeing or evading 2nd degree (on foot), assault 3rd degree (police officer), resisting arrest, obstructing governmental operations and disorderly conduct 2nd degree.

Brandy Briggs (Scott), 39, of Hazel faces charges of obstructing governmental operations, disorderly conduct 2nd degree and resisting arrest.

Deputies found Scott and Briggs (Scott), outside a home in Hazel. They became hostile and a deputy was struck in the face by Jimmy Scott while the deputy was trying to detain him.

He tried to flee when a Taser was used to gain control.

Brandy was also detained after being combative, according to the sheriff’s office.

There were several small baggies of methamphetamine located under a tire of a vehicle where Jimmy Scott had initially been contacted, according to the sheriff’s office.

Both people were taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
