2 face charges after traffic stop, deputy breaks finger in McCracken County

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people face charges after a vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation.

A deputy with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation at 2 a.m. on Saturday, July 8 on Fisher Road near the Barkley Regional Airport.

The male passenger in the vehicle provided the deputy with a false name, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.  When confronted with this, he ran away on foot. He was later identified as Marshall Cook, 36, of Cairo, Illinois.

The deputy was able to catch Cook and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, Cook resisted arrest and tried to disarm the deputy. The deputy sustained a broken finger.

Cook was found to have an active warrant for a parole violation. The investigation also revealed Cook had been in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, items of drug paraphernalia and items consistent with narcotics sales, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Cook was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Cook faces charges of giving officer false identifying information, fleeing/evading police 1st degree, resisting arrest. assault 3rd degree on police officer, trafficking in controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and public intoxication of controlled substance.

The driver of the vehicle, Annamarie Adams, 27, of Paducah was also arrested and faces numerous charges.
