2 face charges in death of 17-month-old girl in Murray

MURRAY, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people are charged with murder after the death of a 17-month-old girl in Murray.

Chyanne Niemeyer, 24, and Nathaniel Gibson, 20, each face charges of murder and criminal abuse, 1st degree (child 12 or under).

Murray police officers responded to the Murray Calloway County Hospital Emergency Department on Monday, October 23 around 5 p.m. for a reports of an unresponsive 17-month-old girl with signs of possible physical abuse, according to the Murray Police Department.

The child was later pronounced dead.

An investigation into the child’s death was conducted in conjunction with the Calloway County Coroner’s Office.

Murray police detectives gathered evidence which led to the arrest of Niemeyer and Gibson.

The investigation is ongoing.
