2 face drug charges after found asleep in pickup truck in road

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people face drug charges after they were found asleep in a pickup truck in a road.

Bobby D. Thompson, 61, of Benton, Ky. faces charges of operating on a suspended license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance 1st offense, no registration plate, possession of controlled substance 2nd degree (drug unspecified), possession of controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (methamphetamine).

Kathy Bailey, 67, of Symsonia, Ky. faces charges of possesion of controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Cassity Lane on Saturday, October 14 at 7 a.m. in reference to a vehicle that appeared disabled but half in the road.

Deputies noticed two people asleep in the truck.

The driver said he had tried to turn around and had gotten stuck a few hours before. He also admitted to knowing that his license had been suspended, according to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office.

The license plate that was on the truck belonged to a different vehicle.

The driver and passenger where in possession of illicit drugs that is a Class D felony, according to the sheriff’s office.

They were arrested and taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
